“’The Artist: Reborn’ is quite a bit of fun, and definitely worth watching…”- Hancinema “The Artist: Reborn is a promising debut feature from writer-director Kim Kyoung-won and stars Ryu Hyun-kyung as the artist “Gisele” whom the film is titled after.”- The Movie Beat Veteran actress Ryu Hyun-kyung (known for her roles in “Cyrano Agency” and “Two Weddings and a Funeral”) and Park Jung-min (who starred in the critically acclaimed indie film “Bleak Night” and won Best New Actor at the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards and the 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards) team together to bring comedy to the silver screen in this satirical film about the value of artistic works. Oh In-sook (Ryu Hyun-kyung), who goes by Gisele in the art world, is a failed artist with nothing going for her, despite having studied abroad in Denmark. One day, she meets a cunning and canny art sales representative, Jae-bum (Park Jung-min). Jae-bum believes that Gisele has the potential to become a prominent artist and decides to represent her. He and his colleague James (Moon Jong-won), through their ingenious sales efforts, begin to raise the value of Gisele’s paintings, causing Gisele to gain immense fame. Just as she is ready to bathe in her success, Gisele unexpectedly dies of reasons unknown, shocking the art community. Jae-bum sees this as an opportunity to hike the prices on his deceased client’s paintings and decides to go all-in in doing so. However, Gisele miraculously resurrects in Lazarus fashion, denting Jae-bum’s scheme. In order to save his career, Jaebum suggests to Gisele to stay “dead” and aims to strike a deal with her!
