(굿바이 싱글)

Directed by Kim Tae-gon, Familyhood is a witty cinematic interpretation of a series of events revolving around a successful middle-aged actress who suddenly decides she wants a baby in her life. Starring the incredibly popular Kim Hye-soo, this female-driven laffer saw brisk business at the box office pulling in almost US$1 million in only 5 days of release and is seeing equally impressive returns in overseas markets.

Go Ju-yeon (Kim) is a self-centered diva who always gets what she wants: fame, money and attractive younger boyfriends. Now in her 40s and with her star wattage fading, she questions whether she should settle down with Ji-hoon (Kwak Si-Yang), a 30-something rookie actor with whom she’s having a secret romance. Little does she know however that Ji-hoon’s only interest in her is to advance his own career and he’s been unfaithfull since they started dating. When Ju-yeon learns of Ji-hoon’s cheating, she dumps him and decides she needs a more permanent fixture in her life: a baby.

But it seems like she might have left motherhood all too late and her chances of conceiving are slim. Then, when her path crosses with pregnant teenager Dan-ji (Kim Hyun-Soo), she offers to adopt the baby and support Dani-ji until the birth. In need of the money, Dan-ji accepts the proposal and agrees to stay hidden in Ju-yeon’s  home. Soon after, Ju-yeon announces her pregnancy to the press and declaring she’s a proud single mom-to-be, her popularity soars. Revelling in the unexpected upturn in her career, she begins to neglect Dan-ji, but worse still it seems her fans are becoming suspicious of her behavior.
