Memoirs of a Murderer” is the Japanese remake of the hit Korean film “Confession of Murder”.  Tatsuya Fujiwara (“DEATH NOTE”, 2006) plays the charismatic murderer who published a memoir about his murders after the statute of limitation expires and Hideaki Ito (“Lesson of Evil”, 2012) plays the investigator who has been preoccupied with the case for 22 years.  With a new twist brought to the story by director Yu Irie (“The Sun”, 2016), this tension-gripping thriller attracted 233,000 admissions over its first two days of release with earnings of ¥321 million (US$2.91 million) and immediately became a number one box office hit.

When the statute of limitations of a serial murder cold case expired, a man (Tatsuya Fujiwara) who claimed himself as the serial killer resurfaced and announced the publication of a memoir about the murders he committed. With his good look and charismatic smile, the serial killer immediately became a media sensation and gained sympathy of the public with his confession.  However no one knows that it was just the beginning of his unfathomable master plan.
