Shin Godzilla

(シン・ゴジラ)

Synopsis:

Japanese heartthrob Hiroki Hasegawa stars with Yutaka Takenouchi and Satomi Ishihara in the 31st film in the Godzilla franchise. Co-directors Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi have teamed up to re-imagine Godzilla’s origins, namely in modern Japan.

In the waters of Tokyo Bay, a mysterious, massive entity attacks a coast guard boat during its investigation. Japan's Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, Rando Yaguchi (Hiroki Hasegawa), fears that it is a living creature, especially when news footage reveals a massive tail emerging from ocean waters. As a gigantic creature moves ashore, it destroys everything in its path and wreaks major havoc. The casualties pile up as the entity evolves to become an animal capable of maneuvering on land, thanks to its new ability to stand on two legs.

As Yaguchi’s investigation uncovers more secrets, special visiting expert Kayoko Ann Patterson (Satomi Ishihara) reveals that the creature’s origins came from nuclear fission and radioactive contamination – a secret already discovered by disgraced zoology professor, Goro Maki . With Godzilla now at twice its original size, the fearsome being heads for Tokyo, where a catastrophic battle ensues. As highly destructive atomic rays emit from its mouth, Godzilla enters hibernation….
