“This Is Not What I Expected”, the directional debut of Derek Hui (“Soul Mate” - Hong Kong Film Awards nomination for Best Film Editing, 2016), features Takeshi Kaneshiro (“Wu Xia”, 2011) as the callous hotel CEO and Zhou Dongyu (“Soul Mate”, 2016) as the careless sous-chef who develop appreciation of each other through food although the two do not know each other and that they are the misfortune of each other.  This film, produced by Peter Ho-sun Chan (“Dearest”, 2014), is a box office hit in China which crosses over USD29 million in two weeks!  With food, romance and comedy as the ingredients, this film is a “delicious dish” you will love!

Callous and eccentric Lu Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro), CEO of a multinationalhotel corporation, is a man everyone loves to hate.  Gu Shengnan (Zhou Dongyu), sous-chef of Rosebud Hotel, is nota social darlingeither.  Confused, careless and unkempt, Gu Shengnanis hardly men’sobject of desire.

Lu Jin plans to acquire Rosebud Hotel but he e is dissatisfied with everything of the hotel untilhe tries a dish cooked by Gu Shengnan.  Her dish amazes him so he starts ordering dishes from her.  The two do not know each otherand yet they share a mutual appreciation through the food.  They do not realize that they are actually arch-rivals until their identities are revealed by accident…
