Wine War

Drama and high-stakes intrigue ensue in this movie helmed by renowned Hong Kong actor and singer Leon Lai, who tries his hand at directing his first action film. The star-studded cast includes Best Actor Zhang Hanyu, supermodel and actress Du Juan, Taiwanese actor David Wang and model-actor Nan Fulong from Tianjin.

Shui Zhang (Zhang Hanyu) and Waley (Leon Lai) were buddies at an orphanage. Adopted by a French couple and having moved to France at a young age, Waley has become a world-renowned sommelier. Left alone in China, Shui Zhang grew up to be a braggart and a nobody. When Shui Zhang travels to France one day to enlist Waley's help in auctioning a bottle of red wine called "The God of Wine," said to contain Kublai Khan's secret wine-brewing recipe, Waley accepts the challenge immediately. During the auction, Waley encounters a representative from the seller, the beautiful Yvonne (Du Juan), and falls in love with her at first sight. Meanwhile, the other potential buyer is the wealthy and imposing coal tycoon, Changfang Fang (David Wang). While he appears to be a rich and vulgar brute on the surface, there is much more to him than meets the eye. The intrigue increases when Fang discovers he is being followed by a private connoisseur of suspicious origins. Much to Waley's surprise, Zhang and Fang seem also to be sharing secrets between themselves. Little does Waley realize that he is being drawn into an age-old feud between rival vineyards, as well as an industry-shattering mystery of historical proportions, dating back to the Tang dynasty.
