Synopsis:

Ashfall, which charts the efforts to contain the chaos following a volcanic eruption, is directed by the award-winning South Korean screenwriter and director Lee Hye-jun (Castaway on the Moon, My Dictator) who made a name for himself with the coming-of-age drama Like a Virgin. The film stars Korean-American Don Lee (Train to Busan, The Outlaws), Ha Jung-woo (The Chaser, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds), actress and singer Bae Su-zy (While You Were Sleeping, Vagabond) and Lee Byung-hun (Keys to the Heart, The Fortress).

An unexpected eruption of Korea’s highest volcano, which sits on the Chinese-North Korean border, leaves the Korean peninsula in total chaos. When the seismologist Bong-rae (Don Lee) proposes measures to stop further eruptions, In-chang (Ha), a member of Korea’s Special Forces squad, is given one last mission before returning home to his wife Ji-young (Bae). In-chang must seek out and join hands with a rogue North Korean elite office Jun-pyong (Lee Byung-hun) in order to stop the imminent devastation of the peninsula.
