The year 1994 in South Korea was marred by the tragic collapse of the Seongsu Bridge. And it is this particular year in which writer and director Bora Kim (The Recorder Exam, Eiko) chose to set her award-winning coming-of-age drama. House of Hummingbird stars Park Ji-hu (The Witness, Home Without Me), Kim Sae-byuek (The Day After), Jeong In-gi (The Five) and Lee Seung-yeon (Worst Woman).

Set against the background of a rapidly expanding Seoul, lonely 14-year-old Eun-hee (Park) moves through life like a hummingbird searching for a taste of sweetness wherever she may find it. Deprived of attention from her family, she roams the neighbourhood with her best friend, attempts romantic relationships with both girls and boys alike and is sent to hospital with an unclear diagnosis. When a new teacher Young-ji (Kim) arrives at her school, she becomes the first adult who Eun-hee feels really understands her.
