Extreme Job

(극한직업)

Synopsis:

Since its release, Extreme Job has soared at the box office and with over 14 million admissions to date is Korea’s highest grossing movie of all time,  outperforming such blockbusters as Train to Busan and Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds. Starring Ryu Seung-yong, Lee Hanee, Jin Sun-kyu, Lee Dong-hwi and Gong-myoung, the record-breaking entertainer centres around members of a drug investigation team who in a sting operation open a restaurant only to hit it big with their delicious fried chicken.

The police narcotics team works hard day and night but their performance remains at an all time low, leading them to become the ugly duckling of the police force and potentially facing dismantlement. Captain Ko (Ryu)receives intel about an international drug deal and embarks on a risky undercover mission with his team. In order to establish round-the-clock and up-close-and-personal surveillance, the team takes over a rundown chicken joint across the street from the drug gang’s safehouse. But things take an unexpected turn when Detective Ma’s (Jin)yet unrevealed culinary talents begin to shine, turning the chicken restaurant famous overnight.

When customers begin to flock in, undercover work gets pushed to the back burner in order for the detectives to focus on frying chicken. As a result, a drug deal is missed, even though it happens right under their noses. Now, with nowhere to go, the detectives launch a desperate mop-up operation.
