Synopsis:

The second instalment of the “Divining Art Trilogy” that began with the box office hit The Face Reader, The Princess and the Matchmakercontinues its predecessor’s success by drawing in over one million cinemagoers in its first week of theatrical release. The lavish period comedy romancer helmed by Hong Chang-pyo stars acclaimed Korean actress Shim Eun-kyung (Fabricated City, The Mayor) as a young princess who escapes the confines of her palace walls in order to find true love.

In the wake of a prolonged famine, the royal family arranges Princess Songhwa’s (Shim) marriage. It is assumed the royal wedding will correct the misfortune affecting the nation.

A renowned diviner, Seo Doyoon (Lee Seung-gi), is brought in to help find the perfect husband for the princess. Out of candidates from around the country, four young men, each with different fate signs, are shortlisted.

The free-minded princess however refuses to accept that her life partner will be chosen based solely on a fortune reading. She sneaks out of the palace to secretly watch each of the candidates. But little does she realise that a scheming member of the royal family has other plans for her future.
